Roma Writer’s Group Member, David Bowden, was a Guest Author at the Warwick Jumpers and Jazz Festival.
The invitation to showcase the book, “Reminiscences of Shearing and Shearers” (co-written by Jim Allen and David Bowden) came from Deb Wheeler owner of the Grafton Rose B & B. Ms Wheeler is also the publisher of David Bowden’s local history book, “Remember Muckadilla.”

Current shearers and many former workers in the shearing industry in the Maranoa Region also attended.
The presentation included reference to shearing stories from the book and those attending.
In addition an overview was given of being a self published author. The day concluded with a Devonshire Tea in the gardens of Grafton Rose Cottage.
Deb Wheeler has also agreed to judge the Roma Writers Group and Western Star Margery Grieve Short Story Competition for 2014. All writers in the Maranoa are encouraged to write and send stories of 3,000 words on any subject to the Western Star on the official entry form.
